03

One of the school's core values is to develop future citizens who respect their roots and feel a strong sense of belonging. We therefore encourage respectful behaviour during the raising and lowering of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem at patriotic events and school ceremonies. It is important that adults lead by example, refraining from conversation and mobile phone use during these moments.

04

This handbook aims to achieve harmonious coexistence based on mutual respect — not limited to the school environment, but extending to all areas of children's lives as whole human beings.

Any student who breaches a rule will receive the appropriate sanction according to the seriousness of the offence. Regardless of the sanction, reflection on the incident will be encouraged, promoting a restorative response and meaningful learning.

!

Ignorance of any provision in this School Handbook will result in sanctions ranging from warnings to refusal of re-enrolment for the following academic year.

The application of corrective actions and sanctions is framed within a comprehensive approach aimed at strengthening the school climate and promoting respectful coexistence. In keeping with the principles and values set out herein, these measures seek to create opportunities for reflection, learning and reparation, prioritising the holistic development of students with the support of the educational community.

Educational institutions may implement the following measures to restore adequate coexistence, progressively and in accordance with the age of the students:

  1. Addressing the student privately to encourage reflection.
  2. Oral and/or written warnings that must be communicated to parents or responsible adults.
  3. Summoning the students' guardians to agree on joint measures aimed at resolving the issue.
  4. Corrective actions for the benefit of the school community.
  5. Suspension from participation in an extracurricular activity organised by the school.
  6. Referring the case to the School Guidance Team/ASE/DOE (in state-managed schools) when its complexity requires it, in order to obtain advice in decision-making. If the Principal considers a change of school to be appropriate, this recommendation must be recorded in the Report Card for enrolment at the other school.
  7. In the case of Secondary-level institutions, Law No. 223 and Decree No. 998/08 (or any future amendment or replacement) also apply.
07

Children entering Year 1 must provide an ophthalmological certificate and an audiometry report no older than 6 months, along with copies of their vaccination certificates.

Families must inform the school of any contagious illness. Students absent for 3 or more days due to a physical ailment must provide a medical clearance certificate before returning.

!

At the start of each school year, a medical fitness certificate for physical activity must be submitted. Without it — or without the required protective equipment (shin guards, mouthguard) — the student will not be permitted to participate in Physical Education.

08

Medicamentos y saludMedication & Health

In order to adequately support students and safeguard their wellbeing, families are asked to organise, whenever possible, the administration of medication outside school hours.

When this is not possible, the family may authorise a person to come to the school and administer the medication in person.

In the case of antibiotic treatments, it is particularly recommended to schedule doses so that they do not coincide with school hours.

  • Under no circumstances may students carry medication in their school bags.
  • Please check your child's hair regularly and do not send them to school if you notice nits or lice; if found, carry out the appropriate treatment before returning.

It is essential to keep all family details up to date on the Xhendra platform (address, home and mobile phone numbers, email, etc.). We also need to be informed of any family circumstances such as travel, change of address, illness, or other significant events in the children's lives.

Entrevistas con directivos y docentesMeetings with Staff & Leadership

Families wishing to meet with school leadership or staff must request an appointment in advance by calling the School Office or through the communication book, in order to arrange a suitable time.

14

The communication book is shared across both sessions and is the official channel between families, teachers, the guidance team, and the Principal. Please read it daily at home and sign all notes. It is an official document and must be cared for (avoid scribbles, drawings, inappropriate language, and torn pages). Students must have it with them at all times.

It must not be used for communication between families or for advertising. Birthday invitations are the only family messages that may be pasted into it.

  • If celebrating a birthday by taking the group directly from school, please state the mode of transport in the invitation and include an authorisation slip for each family to sign.
  • No student is permitted to change clothes inside the school or to wear the Physical Education uniform to attend an event if PE is not scheduled that day.
15

Students are not permitted to bring mobile phones or other personal electronic devices to school.
